Mike Hancock (Canadian Politician)
Mike Hancock is a former mayor of the city of Brantford, Ontario, Canada. He was elected to the position in the 2003 municipal elections, defeating three-term incumbent Chris Friel by 11,668 votes to 11,653. He did not stand for re-election in 2010 municipal elections and was replaced by the returning Friel. Born in Toronto and educated at York University, Hancock worked for Dun & Bradstreet of Canada as an analyst and then manager from 1961 to 1971. From 1971 until his retirement in 1998, he took a series of senior positions in the federal government's employment department. He moved to Brantford in 1981. Brantford leadership Hancock was first elected as Ward Three city councillor in 1988, and re-elected continuously until his mayoral run. Hancock took a fiscally conservative position on municipal tax levels and advocated for the reduction of the city's debt, which was eliminated. Michael John "Mick" Hancock (born 21 October 1969) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. An Australian international and Queensland State of Origin representative , he played in the Brisbane Broncos' first five Grand Final victories in 1992, 1993, 1997 Super League, 1998 and 2000. At the time of his retirement from football in Australia in 2000 he held the Broncos' club records for most career appearances. He played out the rest of his career in England with the Salford City Reds and retired in 2002. Early career Hancock started out playing in the under 16's/18's and A Grade in the Toowoomba rugby league for the Stanthorpe Gremlins. Mike Hancock (British Politician)
Michael Thomas Hancock (born 9 July 1946) is a British politician. He was most recently an independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Portsmouth South. Hancock formally resigned from the Liberal Democrat whip in early June 2014 until a civil court action brought against him by a female constituent alleging improper conduct was resolved. Hancock was previously the Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South for the SDP following a by-election in 1984 until 1987. Early life Hancock was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, the son of a Portsmouth naval stoker, growing up on a Portsmouth council estate. He was educated at comprehensive schools in Portsmouth. He worked as an engineer until he was first elected to Parliament, and in the years between his parliamentary career he worked as both a director of the Daytime Club at the BBC and as a district officer for Mencap.
